Hats off the parents dealing with challenging teens. This is a time of life that can be just as vexing as the terrible twos. What parent loves to sit up nights waiting for a cruising teenager to come home?

What parent wonders what kind of trouble their teenager is courting? And what parent wants to deal with challenging teens?

I was listening to a Christian Radio station today while driving back from my nursing home job. A Christian counselor from Agape counseling was explaining his views on dealing with challenging teens?

He recommends a questioning approach. Try asking your challenging teens to name one thing that they would like to change about family life.

Had I been asked that question, I would have said something about wanting my father to stop drinking.

Try asking your challenging teens to name one thing they would like to change about themselves.

I would have wanted to have changed my laid back approach to everything in life. In other words, I was lazy.

Try asking your challenging teens to name at least one goal. I would have expressed a desire to get a music scholarship, which I did accomplish.

What would like to change about yourself? What would you like to change in your family? And what would you like to change in your community?
