Making a Positive Difference in Your Life

First Things First: A Positive Difference

Do you want to make a positive difference in your life? Do you want a spouse? Do you want to make more money? Do you want to find fulfillment?

According to Stephen R. Covey, the habit of putting first things first is a natural outgrowth of the first two principles outlined in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Habit one is the ability to be proactive. Habit two is beginning with the end in sight. Habit three speaks of prioritizing, or putting first things first

I believe that there are prerequisites which precede action. They are awareness of what you want, visioning your desires, and finally, taking concrete action to pursue your dreams.

To make a positive life difference, write down what your goals are: Be specific. If you want a mate, write down what his/her physical characteristics should be. Write down his/her personality traits. Decide which belief systems would be compatible with yours.

I have a friend who wrote her information on a piece of paper and put it under her bed. She literally slept on it. A few months later, she met him on an airplane!

Step two involves imagining or visioning your heart’s desire. Put some energy into it. Feel what it would be like to have another $50,000.00 See yourself being financially secure. Feel the thrill or riding in that hummer!

The third step is action. What do you need to do in order to pursue your dream? Make a list of three action steps for each goal. Follow visioning with practicality. Finally, make decisions about which goals should take priority. Which ones would make the most positive difference in your life.
