Five steps to Your Happiness

Create your own happiness.

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.”
― William W. Purkey
Number one; Dance like no one’s watching. Does that mean you have to literally dance? I wouldn’t think so. This can be interpreted in several ways. Perhaps dancing means enjoying a good joke and laughing like no one’s watching. Perhaps it means praying like no one’s watching. Or perhaps it means laughing like no one’s watching. In any case, cut loose and let the joy come out.  Raise your happiness quotient.

Number Two; Love like you’ll never be hurt. Be willing to extend your heart outward and make yourself vulnerable. Know that if the love is not returned, you will remain unchanged at your core.  Your happiness will shine forth.

Number three: Sing like there’s nobody listening: Belt out those melodies. Proclaim your belief system loudly. Don’t be afraid to let your voice be heard. Take a stand when you see injustice. Take a stand when you see wrongdoing. Take a stand when you observe wrong living.

Number Four: Live like it’s heaven on earth. It might not be heavenly right now. Work to create your own heaven and your own happiness.

Number Five: I’m adding number five: Forgive yourself if you fail to do one through four. Know that grief, sadness, and anger are all a part of daily living. Tell yourself that “this too shall pass.”

Thank you to all those who have helped me through the fall on ice that caused a broken knee and through the fall on my kitchen floor, due to the knee brace, that caused a broken tooth.

Thanks to Dr. Brent Wells, Linda Hess, Dr. Suzanne Clare, all my piano students, Dr. David Bone, David Oswald, and Chris R
